Hi John,
Suramin is an experimental drug that has not been tested on human. Its risk may greatly outweigh the benefit. It may be important to note that on the laboratory test (autistic mice model), Suramin caused serious metabolic abnormalities. It may also cause skin rashes, fever, headaches and vomiting.
As the children is only 8 years old, we do not recommend Suramin until the safety of the drug has been clearly established through numerous human clinical trials. If the drug must be administered, we also recommend that the treatment is closely monitored with parents or adults, and physician's supervision.
