Elevated CEA and more
Posted on August 9, 2022 at 02:28:52 PM by Isabel
Dear Kenrico Medical Doctors,
Just an update on the individual diagnosed with Obstructive Jaundice, 2 months ago. Protocol for Obstructive Jaundice is ongoing since June/2022. However, the Recent Cancer Ag 19-9 lab work result came with an elevated 857(normal <=35u/ml). And, Serum CEA at 7.3(standard range<=3.8 ng/ml). A PET Scan is being scheduled at this point and a plan for a guided needle biopsy(external) of the liver is also being recommended. Biopsy results of the pancreatic tissue showed a predominance of benign duodenal mucosa with small amounts of thick mucin and fibrous stroma. No definitive diagnosis arrive at this point, although a clinical correlation is being suggested.
QUESTION: Should the individual continue the same protocol suggested or would there be any changes? Please advise. Thank you so much.
