Hi David,
If you have the older version (prior Feb 2013) of the Ion Water Purifier (SILVER), the maintenance procedure is by flipping a switch and let the water run for 5 minutes.
On the other hand, if you have the NEW version of the Ion Water Purifier (SILVER), there is no need for any maintenance procedure because it happens automatically every time you run the water.
