July 1, 2024 Due to the increased number of complaints from users experiencing various health symptoms from using products obtained through commerce sites, Kenrico took the lead in consumer protection by obtaining samples from fifteen different brands and analyzing their contents. These fifteen brands, all manufactured in China, referred to as samples J15365-0, are sold under various names in the United States and are advertised as detoxification pads. The following test was performed: 1. Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (PYMS) Objective The goal of this analysis was to investigate the content of the samples J15365-0. Summary of Results No Sporolife was found in the samples. Instead, carcinogens such as acetaldehyde, benzene, and dermatitis-inducing agents like acetone and toluene were detected in all samples. Acetaldehyde and benzene are classified as carcinogens (cancer-causing chemicals) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Additionally, toxic compounds typically found in cigarette or cigarette butt powder such as 2Furfural, 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene, 2-Methylphenol, p-Cresol, 2,5-Dimethylphenol were detected in all samples. The idea of introducing toxins into the body to fight other toxins is based on traditional chelating methods. While the body may experience short-term improvement, the long-term consequences include increased susceptibility to cancer and organ damage, which can significantly shorten one's lifespan. Furthermore, the concept of “detoxification pads” to remove toxins by these fifteen different brands, should be more accurately referred to as “retoxification pads”. "Retoxification" refers to the process or condition where, instead of removing toxins from the body as intended, new harmful toxins are introduced. This can occur when attempting to detoxify using methods or substances that are themselves toxic, ultimately leading to an increase in the overall

toxic load in the body rather than a reduction. USFDA strictly regulates these chemicals, and criminal charges can be filed against individuals and companies found guilty of selling dangerous products. Individual Test Results A summary of the individual test results is provided below. All accompanying data, including spectra, has been included in the data section of this report. PYMS Analysis by PYMS was conducted using a double shot technique. The double shot experiment consists of heating a sample to release volatiles which were then cryogenically trapped and then analyzed by GCMS. Following completion of the 1st pass analysis, the remaining portion of the sample was then heated above the decomposition temperature rapidly and pyrolyzed components were passed into a gas chromatography column and analyzed by mass spectroscopy. Prominent peaks found in PYMS typically include fragments of the polymer as well as monomer, antioxidants and other additives. Sample peaks were compared with over 796,613 reference compounds using the NIST/EPA/NIH mass spectral search program. Sample Preparation Approximately 0.7 mg of sample Powder in Sachet was placed into a flame-cleaned PYMS cup. The sample was analyzed without further preparation. An empty flame-cleaned PYMS cup was also subjected to PYMS analysis as an air blank. Results The sample was analyzed by PYMS to screen for presence of sporolife. The sample was pyrolyzed at 700 °C, which should be high enough for the decomposition of sporoplife.1 Based on journal articles about the PYMS analysis of sporolife provided by Kenrico LTD2,3, it is concluded that organic are major units present in sporolife. Therefore, both compounds together with their porolyzates, 4-vinylphenol (m/z 120) and 4-vinyl-2-methoxyphenol (m/z 150), were screened in the sample but were not detected. The absence of the marker compound suggests that the presence of sporolife in the sample is unlikely. The 1st heat (thermal desorption) and 2nd heat (pyrolysis) chromatograms with highlighted desorption and pyrolysis products are presented in Figure 1 and Figure 2, respectively. Analysis Conditions PYMS Sample was analyzed using a Agilent 6890 gas chromatograph in conjunction with a 5975B mass selective detector using a Frontier Laboratories double shot Pyrolyzer model PY3030D. Data acquisition was accomplished using MassHunter software. Sample peaks were compared with over 796,613 reference compounds using the NIST/EPA/NIH mass spectral search program.
